Why We Care
June 1, 2022
From our newest staff members to our longest employed, each person has a different journey and steps up to make a difference in our residents’ lives. It takes a special kind of individual to work in this field, and we honor these selfless healthcare workers. Their daily tasks include showing our residents personalized care through our person-centered approach, which is individualized and unique to each resident.
Follow along as we showcase the hearts and souls at our skilled nursing facility by asking our teams how they show their care to our residents and why they chose the career path of healthcare/long-term care. Find out why a handful of our employees are so passionate about being a caretaker by exploring their answers.
Anna Noe has been with Heather Hill for three years as an LPN.
“I knew I wanted to be a nurse at five years old for a lot of reasons, the reasons changed over the years, but the main reason was always that I wanted to help people. Although with the pandemic and nursing shortages that continue to go on, we keep the days busy, and the workload is always growing. There are still those special moments when someone says or does something, and you know that you have made a difference in their life. My favorite part of being a nurse is watching a patient meet a milestone, whether it be something as small as losing a couple pounds or as big as being weaned off a vent.”
Catrina Barnes is a dayshift STNA on Area E at Heather Hill. Monday-Wednesday, you can find her calling Bingo numbers for the residents on the skilled unit.
“I became a STNA for many reasons. One of them was I am a people person, I love people, and I like to get to know them one on one. I continue to stay in healthcare because I love caring for our elderly. My motto is everyone will need help someday, treat people how you would like to be treated or a family member treated. My favorite part of being in healthcare is that you meet different people, changing lives one ADL at a time.”
Luann Allison has been an STNA at Heather Hill for eight years, and you can find her on C Wing.

“I became a caregiver because it makes my day to make someone else day. I drive about 45 minutes 4-5 days a week to put a smile on my resident's faces. I enjoy my job very much. It doesn't seem like work when you are going something you love.”
